The Hospital-in-the-Home (HITH) program is a unique service that enables patients who would otherwise require hospitalization to be cared for in their own home or other non-hospital setting (such as a hotel). Patients are individually assessed to ensure that there are adequate support systems in place to receive care at home. Admission to HITH is arranged by a physician who follows the patient's progress daily, until discharge. Professional registered nurses provide care seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Visits are made to patients from 7:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., with nurses available on-call from 10 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. HITH covers all costs for nursing visits and supplies. There are no fees for this service.
