In Nova Scotia more than 400 agencies respond to police, fire and medical emergencies. With Nova Scotia's 911 emergency reporting service contacting any of these agencies for help, no matter where you are in the province is a simple matter of dialing 911.
Emergency Health Services (EHS) provides the ambulance service for Nova Scotia. EHS is a division of the Nova Scotia department of Health. EHS is responsible for the continual development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of pre hospital emergency health services in the province. Healthlink, 811, is a 24 hour a day 7 days a week telehealth service.
A registered nurse is available for advice, provide answers and to give reassurance concerning all kinds of general health issues and questions.
The nurse can give you advice and information and may recommend you to make an appointment with your doctor or go to the local emergency department. The nurse can also access information about your health issues and find you services available in your community.

Mental Health Crisis Line
1-888-429-8167 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
All Nova Scotians with mental health concerns now have 24/7 access to mental health crisis intervention, with the expansion of the Mental Health Crisis Line to the entire province.
The crisis line is staffed by licensed clinicians, with a background of social work, nursing or occupational therapy. The clinicians will triage and assess each call for imminent risk and safety, and will help the caller cope with their issue in the moment.
Problem Gambling Help Line
You do not have to deal with a gambling problem alone. Whether you are concerned about yourself, or someone you know, help is close by.
Just pick up the phone and call the Problem Gambling Help Line at 1-888-347-8888. It's free, and confidential. Someone who understands will answer and will listen. It doesn't matter how deeply you are involved in gambling, recovery is possible. Others have done it, you can, too.
You can also get support or more information about problem gambling from the Addiction Services offices within GASHA. The service is free and your information will be kept in strictest confidence.
